Keyboard Controller and Midi InterfaceA long time coming but Revision 2 of the Keyboard controller is ready for Beta testing, we have identified a couple of brave souls who will be receiving their units for testing.

Shortly we will publish the pinouts and connector details so you can start planning your project. The controller will be listed in the shop as a pre-order at a special introducatary price. We will also supply a bundle including the MIDI interface. All cables and  connectors will be listed at the same time to get you up and running.

The initial software release will provide basic but fully tested functionality. The software for the keyboard controller can be updated without any additional tools, just connect to your PC or Mac and copy the new firmware. This ensures that even the earliest of adopters will be able to keep their project upto date.

Raffle prize winnerAt last weekends Synth DIY in Cambridge, Keyparts had their versatile keyboard controller pre-production models running.

The keyboard controller was used to breathe life back into an old E&MM Spectrum Synthesizer, by providing a modern and reliable keyboard.

With the addition of the CV board the controller was programmed to emulate the operation of the resistor chain keyboard. The interface was a pin for pin replacement for the original keyboard controller PCB.

Simon was the lucky winner of a Fatar 61 note synthesizer style keyboard.

Disk Replacements Print E-mail

Samples of the first of our floppy drive replacements will be arriving soon. This brilliant device replaces the floppy drive on your keyboard and lets you use a USB memory stick to store and transfer your program and sample files. There is no need to change the software and there is no need to have the SCSI extensions in your synth. Plug onto the floppy drive data and power cables and you're ready to save and transfer to your PC or MAC for safe storage.

For those blessed with a SCSI interface we are currently prototyping two SD Flash storage devices, that plugs straight onto the SCSI bus in your synth, replacing those delicate and ageing hard disks.

Module one fits internally and optionally supports a 3.5" drive memory card drive bay. for easy additional drives with front panel access.

Module two fits to the SCSI extension socket on the rear of your synth will be recognised as a numbered SCSI drive on your synth. Additionally this module provides a USB connection appearing as a removable drive on your PC or MAC for simple file transfer.

Where have all the keyboards gone?
Sunday, 19 December 2010 13:37

Over the past few weeks we have had some lengthy discussions with Fatar on the nature of the business of Keyparts. This has required that we extend our product range before we can re-introduce Fatar keyboards. We are in the process of clarifing Keyparts requirement to fit Fatar keyboards into our currently developing range of products, including the supply of the keyframes with our keyboard controller project.

We apologise for any inconvience that this may cause to our customers. Fatar is now closed until 9th January at which time we will continue to have on going discussions with Fatar.  This situation has delayed our expected November delivery, however we can report that this is now intransit.

We hope to increase our product line as quickly as possible to resolve this situation, if you are searching for hard to get supplies or want to get your project running, please contact us. Hopefully normal service will be resumed as soon as possible.
